In developing the project, Terracal followed strict environmental and socioeconomic objectives. With a strong focus on operational integration, practically all the waste from the agricultural and industrial processes will be reused in other areas of the project.

The size and scope of the project will contribute to the socioeconomic development of the various municipalities in the region, enhancing living conditions, job creation and increasing regional GDP and public revenues.

The project will also add to the region’s economic base, resulting in a basis for additional economic growth for the region. Increases in local public revenues will ensure a greater capacity for infrastructure investment, further contributing to the improvement of local living conditions.

In addition to the socio-economic benefits inherent in the project, Terracal plans to bring further sustainable contributions, such as the implementation of technical training programs through partnerships with government agencies and educational institutions, support for local business growth encouraging the expansion of local suppliers, and support for management programs in local municipalities.

The project will also promote technological innovation in the agricultural, industrial and irrigation sectors in the region and in Brazil, through innovations such as:

  • Rotation of sugarcane and tomatoes
  • Larger and more efficient power generation
  • Precision agriculture
  • Integrated Pest Management Programs
  • Environmental Conservation
